12/11-12/17: Emily Vaughn

12%2F11-12%2F17%3A+Emily+Vaughn

Emily Vaughn is the athlete of the week during the week of December 11 – 15. Vaughn is a Junior on the Varsity swim team. Emily has been swimming since her freshman year. On game day Emily’s pregame ritual consists of getting her mind right by listening to music. Vaughn loves to get hyped before a game and her go-to artists are Travis Scott and Kayne West.

Vaughn’s favorite memory of swimming is achieving third in every race at conference last year, and her inspiration to swim is remembering why she started swimming and because of Katie Ledecky and everything she’s done for women in sports. Vaughn loves to swim. It’s the most difficult sport she’s played because it’s always challenging her to get better.

Vaughn’s best event in the pool is the 50-meter freestyle, but in the classroom, she’s even better. Vaughn’s favorite class is Mrs. Hammers’s Medical Intervention class because she knows after high school she desires to major in something in the medical field. Emily wants to go to an SEC school and her top two favorites are Ole Miss and Auburn.
