Ryan “Whitty” Whitworth is currently a freshman at Hazelwood West High School who is on the Varsity Baseball Team. Whitty has been playing baseball since he was little at just 5- years-old. On the field Whitty is a left handed pitcher as well as a first baseman, and outfielder.
Whitty’s inspiration to play baseball is his two brothers; Tyler, and Tanner. Tyler also made the Varsity Baseball Team as a freshman which made Whitty extremely motivated to play more and get better to also be a freshman on Varsity.
“I feel very accomplished making the Varsity team and I’m super excited for the season.” Whitty said.
Whitty shares he is ready for his games to start, and he thinks the team could make it far in the District and State Tournament this year.
“I think adding Coach Manis as our head coach will help the team in so many ways. Practices started so much earlier this year than they did last year and they’ve been better run practices.” Whitty said.
Whitty is just as good in the classroom as he is on the field. Whitty is in multiple honors classes and is succeeding in all of them. His favorite class he’s in is Honors English 1. He says that his high school class expectations have been an adjustment, but is excited for the rest of his high school career.
“It’s been pretty easy transferring from middle school to high school except my honors classes now are way harder than my classes in middle school.” Said Whitty
