The World-Class Sidekicks Of West’s Superheros.

One of Hazelwood West High School’s greatest attributes is its extensive assortment of amazing teachers and staff. However, everyone knows the greatest superheros need a great sidekick to keep them going. Here are a few of West’s awesome pets.

Ms Galbreath is a west art teacher, igniting the passion for painting, drawing and all things art in every student she comes across.

“Introducing my sidekick, Siddalee Reese Galbreath “The Joy” There is nothing better than a dog or as I say heaven on 4 legs.”

Mr. Gunasingham is famously known around the halls of West for being one of the schools funniest teachers, Mr. G, as he is more casually called, makes the hard topic of chemistry understandable and fun for all of his students.

“ even though I don’t have any animals for pets, my potted plant, nicknamed *planty* has become an iconic component of my classroom.”

Ms. Kintz is one of West’s sensational english teachers who has helped to spark a true passion for literature in many of her students.

“Since I don’t have pets, I have lovingly tended this African Violet on my desk at school. Look at how beautifully it has reflowered!”

Ms. Baker is an outstanding english teacher at West, she has instilled the critical value of deep thinking and analysis in her students for both her media literacy and AP language and composition classes.

“This is Bilbo Baker. He is the floofiest, goofiest, doofiest golden retriever around. The only thing he cares about more than bone treats is attention from literally any human he comes into contact with.”

Mr. Morrison has taught multiple science classes to West’s students, however the real science is the chemistry he has been able to foster with his students over the years.

Here is Mr. Morrison’s lovely dog Lucy, who is famously sported on his google account profile photo.

Ms. Neeter is an extraordinary english teacher at west who works side by side with her students, crafting meaningful bonds with all of her students.

“This is Cocoa Neeter. She’s an almost-six-year old beagle who loves anything consumable (whether she’s supposed to eat it or not), going on walks, and playing with her humans.”

Ms. Day is West’s journalism, media production and yearbook teacher. Ms. Day’s work has helped to grow West’s journalism department immensely, allowing her students to develop and ignite their passion for being involved in the media.

“This is Harper Lee, she is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees and the root of all of my problems. Harper is BEYOND stubborn and quite anxious, but she is the biggest lover girl in the entire world! She loves nothing more than to cuddle her stuffies, hugs and sleeping in on weekends. Harper is quite awkward and does not take great pictures due to her underbite and lazy eye, but she can capture the heart of just about anyone with her friendly smile and BIG tail wag <3”

Hello, I am Laila McGhee. I am currently a junior at Hazelwood West Highschool where I actively serve as junior class vice president, secretary of the FCCLA club and participate in other community service clubs as well like National Honors Society and Student council. Serving my community has always been very important to me and joining the newspaper has allowed me to become more deeply involved in reporting for and impacting our school and it’s community!
