The Hazelwood West Journalism program is highlighting Marvin Treadway for his entrepreneurship talents. Treadway is currently a Senior at Hazelwood West High School, and having his brand already walked Ms. Foxworth’s “Walk It Like I Talk It” entrepreneurship 2023 showcase, it is an honor to have his brand at HZW.

Many students across the West have hidden talents, one that stands out is Treadway’s. He designs his own clothes for other students and people across Hazelwood’s community.

“What motivated me to start my business was I wanted to bring something to the table, something different, something new. I wanted to do something that makes others feel good about themselves and what they wear.” Treadway said.

Treadway wants to continue his education in college. He wants to continue his career through college.

“I wanna go to college for fashion designing and also to learn more about business management so I can help expand that business,” Treadway said.

Treadway started his business in his Junior year of high school at the age of 16. The most important thing about his business is the time and labor it takes to actually design his products.

He credited his inspiration from B2fly on Instagram, he wanted everyone to know who inspired him to design clothes. He does hoodies, crewnecks, jackets, and even tote bags! It usually takes him 1 hour to 30 minutes to design clothing and the price range is usually 40 through 55 dollars.

He manages his time by using any free time he has to design as many products as he can.

”Usually people come to me with an idea already in mind but whenever someone wants me to freestyle I just do something I have never seen before,” Treadway said.

When it comes to being inspired and finding a muse, Treadway finds his inspiration within his customers. He tries to stay persistent with his work and not give up when it gets hard. This helps him stay in that motivational mindset as much as possible.

“It brings me peace when I know my customers are happy and satisfied with my work,” Treadway said

Treadway’s words of advice to up-and-coming entrepreneurs “Don’t be afraid of a mess up, don’t let others tell you what to do with your business At the end of the day your business is your business nobody else’s”
