Toxic relationships have always been and always will be a factor in some people’s relationships. Many doubts people are having toxic relationships will ever stop, because of internal factors of a person’s mind. How they perceive the things they do and how they react to their partner’s actions.
Signs of a Toxic Relationship:
There are many signs of toxicity, which may include obsessive behavior
You become obsessed with one person you think you may be in love with
Fixation on a person as if they are an object
It can lead to a lack of respect for boundaries, unrealistic expectations and just too high of demands.
Manipulation:
A lack of accountability for their actions
It’s a way to make sure you’re coerced into something they favor
Manipulation is a tactic people use to have control over their partner and make them do what you want.
It can really mess with your mind and what you think is true. It can also make you doubt your own thoughts
Isolation:
It’s when someone wants you all to themselves and makes sure you have no connections outside of them
It may include making you cut off people you don’t like, including family
Isolation can make you feel extremely lonely and give you not much of an opportunity to escape the toxic relationship with no one in your life
All these actions are things people should look for when learning how the partner reacts to certain situations and problems in a relationship. Some people may vary on their toxicity level depending on external factors too. Including, background/childhood, their socioeconomic status, people they are around, and these factors can change a way a person feels for their partner whether that be for the better or worse.
How to Avoid Toxic Relationships:
When looking for a relationship the most important thing to do is keep a level head and don’t get blinded by the person’s love. Always stay self-aware of how they treat people. How they treat people around them is how they eventually will treat their S/O, so make sure before entering a relationship to establish boundaries and what is seen as crossing a line. At the end of the day, there are plenty of more people out there to date, and one person isn’t worth the stress of beginning a relationship that can’t be happy.
